Your partner in precious metals acquisition

When that first bar of gold or silver is placed in your hands, something just clicks.

Since 2002, Guildhall has helped more than 3,800 Canadians move from interest to ownership. Buy online or directly with an associate, then take delivery, or keep your metal fully allocated and segregated in your name at an independent vault.

Where are you starting from?

Three ways clients approach a purchase. Some begin with a single ounce, some add steadily over time, and some start with a substantial acquisition. This isn’t a cookie cutter plan to follow step by step. Choose the approach that fits you.

For a first purchase

Start

Your first ounces. Something real, close at hand.

People tell us their understanding and confidence grow after they've acquired their first ounce. A first purchase is usually modest: a couple of tubes of Silver Maple Leafs, a couple of 10 oz silver bars, or a single ounce of gold.

Small enough to be comfortable, real enough to hold.

For steady accumulation

Build

Comfort breeds confidence.

Some clients buy at their next opportunity, some add slowly and steadily, and some review once a year. Many add at natural moments, such as a tax refund, a bonus or an inheritance. As your holdings grow, so does the question of where to keep them: close at hand, or in a depository account in your name.

For substantial holdings

Protect

Preserving what you hold.

For clients making a larger or more considered acquisition, whether it is their first purchase or one of many. Personal guidance from an experienced broker, acquisition planning, product selection across larger bar formats, pricing based on the size of the acquisition, and storage in your name.

How a purchase with Guildhall works

  1. 1Choose your products. An associate walks you through the options.
  2. 2Lock your price. Your associate confirms the price and settlement details before you commit.
  3. 3Arrange payment. Your associate confirms the payment terms. Depending on the size of the order and the market, funds may be needed in advance.
  4. 4Delivery or storage. Once payment clears, your order ships with tracking, or goes into your depository account.
  5. 5Your paperwork. An invoice, and for stored metal, an inventory report.

Your metal, kept your way

How you store your metal is a personal decision. Your bullion is emphatically yours. Many clients decide where it will be kept before they complete the purchase.

A vault might not make sense for everyone, or for all of your bullion. We’ll help you decide what belongs where.

Take delivery

Your order ships to you once payment clears.

A depository account in your name

Fully allocated and segregated at Loomis in Toronto or Brinks in Peterborough and Calgary. Insurance underwritten by Lloyd’s of London. Personally audit your holdings at the vault with one week’s notice.

Want bullion in your RRSP or TFSA?

Metal for a registered account is bought inside the account itself, so it works a little differently from a direct purchase.

Bar size, brand, the size of the order, currency exchange and how the acquisition is structured all affect the price, and the market moves every day. We show you the options and the all-in cost before you commit, so you can decide with the full picture.

Questions

How do I buy gold or silver from Guildhall?

Shop online at guildhallpreciousmetals.com, or call 1-866-274-9570 to buy with an associate. Your associate confirms the price and payment terms before you commit, and your order ships or goes into storage once payment clears.

What should I buy first?

Most first purchases are modest: a tube of Silver Maple Leafs, a couple of 10 oz silver bars, or an ounce of gold. We offer only widely recognized bullion, which is easier to verify and easier to sell later.

Do I have to store my metal with Guildhall?

No. You can take delivery or keep it in a depository account in your name. Many clients use a mix. Bullion for an RRSP or TFSA is bought inside the registered account itself; see Registered Accounts.

What does allocated and segregated mean?

Your specific bars and coins are held under your name, identified by serial number or description, and never pooled with anyone else's. ETFs, certificates and pool accounts track the price without giving you specific bars.

What happens to my metal if Guildhall ceases operations?

Metal in a depository account is held in your name at an independent vault, so it remains yours.

How is the price set?

By the market price of the metal plus a premium that depends on the product, the size of the order and currency exchange. You see the all-in cost before you commit.

How do I sell my metal back?

Call us. One of the most important benefits of gold and silver is how easily it can be exchanged for cash. We buy back LBMA Good Delivery products, including bars and coins from the Royal Canadian Mint, PAMP Suisse, Valcambi, Asahi and others. Call us to confirm a specific product. We quote a price based on the spot price at the time of sale and arrange settlement.

Do you give investment advice?

No. We help you choose recognized products and explain the options. We don't provide investment advice.

Take the first step.
